Running a marathon for PfP

Ramzy Baroud (http://www.ramzybaroud.net/) joins PfP Board members susan abulhawa and Dennis Parrish as they train to run the Philadelphia Marathon in the Fall in support of PfP. Would you like to join us?

Veteran Palestinian-American journalist and former Al-Jazeera producer, Ramzy Baroud has taught Mass Communication at Australia’s Curtin University of Technology, and is Editor-in-Chief of the Palestine Chronicle. He had this to say about PfP:

“Playgrounds for Palestine is a unique organization, for not only does it provide the children of Palestine with a tangible channel that attempts to create some balance, between cruelty and humanity, poverty and joy, occupation and a sense of freedom, it provides us all with ample hope that a happier future is possible for the children of Palestine.
I will keep this hopeful image in mind as I run the Philadelphia marathon in support of Playgrounds for Palestine, its inspiring work and the very worthy cause it so capably serves.

The marathon is never an easy feat, but nothing can be as inspiring as the children of Palestine and their daily struggle for a long denied freedom, to make it all possible.”

Movie Nights

The community LOVES movie nights! susan abulhawa brought a projector to Gaza when she went there and it has been a huge hit. PfP staff charge it by day, and by evening, the projector offers a small sense of normalcy and escape for people trying to survive genocide.

Play, while it cannot change the external realities of children’s lives, can be a vehicle for children to explore and enjoy their differences and similarities and to create, even for a brief time, a more just world where everyone is an equal and valued participant.
