Samir El-Omari is an engineering professor at the University of Wisconsin in Platteville. He is a second-generation Palestinian refugee from Jaffa. Samir joined Playgrounds for Palestine – Madison chapter since his arrival in Madison in 2007 and now is running this chapter. The last project funded by the Madison chapter was built summer 2016 in Tel Remeida – Hebron.

Play, while it cannot change the external realities of children’s lives, can be a vehicle for children to explore and enjoy their differences and similarities and to create, even for a brief time, a more just world where everyone is an equal and valued participant.
